There’s a lot of people here but the place is a dump. It exists because of its location which makes it an interstellar gas station. The dry desert climate is good for storing stuff. Hence, it is a records depot. You will be dropping off a number of containers. Only a few leaving. Mostly military stuff.

Another quick turn around. Dropping off around a dozen containers and picking up four. One of them is a cold sleep transport pod, one is a six passenger personnel pod. The other is cargo. Oh, and a mail pod.

48 hours later, en route to jump point…

There are a variety of pods that the company takes. They do NOT take prison pods. Too much liability.

Moran Mora

Arrive   Moran (Mora)   007-1106 Imperial      January 7, 5629 Earth date

Moran supports a population of fewer than 10,000. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mora Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of DenebMoran , as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
Starport: Class III - Naval base.
Diameter: 3,039 miles (4,900 km).
Atmosphere: Standard oxygen-nitrogen.
Hydrographics: 72%.
Climate: Normal.
Population: 9,000.
Government: None.
Control Level: None.
Tech Level: 8.
World Trade Number: 2.5.

Known mostly as a timber exporter.
This is a quick turn around. Drop off just three containers and pick up two.

Most of the population works at the starport and shore leave facilities. So there isn’t much here. It is kind of a dump but the locals don’t let things get out of hand lest the facilities be placed off limits by the commander.

Meanwhile, when not on duty, Hamilton is studying or doing simulator time.

New Year! 1106 or 5629

In transit, there is a brief celebration. Ship's chronometer says, Happy New Year!

The Captain also reminds the crew that he and a couple of others will be rotated out at Rhylanor. It is his home planet. His contract is for nine months of the year. He will rejoin the ship at Regina in a couple of months. Andrew Tuluthka will be taking over as captain then.

Mora Mora

Arrived Mora (Mora) 362-1105 Imperial    December 28, 5628

Mora is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
  • This world serves as the capital of the sector.
Mora is the home of a member or members of the Imperial Nobility, a narrow class of persons at the upper strata of Imperial society who hold noble rank.
  • It contains the estate of an Imperial knight.
  • It contains the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
  • This world is the fiefdom of a subsector duke.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Mora is known as the “Gateway to the Marches” as it sits at a convenient location on the jump routes through which much the Spinward Marches is reached from Deneb sector and the rest of the Imperium. As a result, it became the seat of both the Duchy government and the Sector administration and accumulated a disproportionate amount of wealth and influence.

As the capitol of the Spinward Marches, it is a center of government.

"Mr. Leeds, please report to the captain."

Mustafa, Matthew and Branwen Falls are already there. Captain Benke looks at Hamilton as he enters, “ Ah, well, now that you are all here. I have a message for all of you. In as much as we are docking at one of the many stations in this system, The Director of Operations for the Scout Base here would like to recognize you four for the rescue you pulled off in Palique. Mr. Chew and Mr. Falls, you will receive Certificates of Valor. Mr. Mustafa and Mr. Leeds, you are both receiving the Silver Medal for Saving Life. So, there will be a brief awards ceremony where the Director and some navy and scout personnel will be present. Our company has a small office here and the senior representative, along with myself will also be present. You’ll be in the news and so on. Oh, do all of you have a suit handy?”

Everyone is pretty surprised and there are high fives all around.

You have dress slacks and a shirt. Mustafa is in the same boat. So Captain Benke sends off a message. The company will provide you with appropriate merchant uniforms. They look like navy uniforms but with different insignia.

your rank badge looks like #13
Captain Benke looks like #1
Brenwen looks like #5, but his are gold while yours are silver.
Mustafa’s insignia is #35

So, while the ship is docked and being refueled and whatnot, there is a ceremony with all of you. Admirals and the Director and so forth. But, an unexpected guest has arrived to congratulate you all. The Duchess Delphine Andorania Muudashir, herself. The only persons more important are Duke Norris, and then the Emperor. She was in transit but heard about this and stopped by. You only see her for 10 minutes at most and then she is gone. The news services just go crazy!!

So, you guys hang out at a reception for an hour…

Lots of photographs. The local company representative, does his best to show you all off and expound on the benefits of doing business with the company.
After an hour more, time to head back to the ship. You do have a schedule to meet. There is also a brief New Years celebration as you will be in jump space on the new year.
You also receive a 1000 cr bonus. Mostly for being subjected to all that.

And back to work. “Mr. Leeds, I’m afraid the party is over. Please initiate jump checklist…”

initiating Jump Checklist

You're all green but there is a warning light.

warning light on what?

It's not engineering. Something with cargo not secured.

IC: "Captain, we have a warning light on the cargo. Looks like something isn’t secured sir.”
Jeff Cohen, assistant purser interjects, “We are already on it, Hamster. Loose container on level 4, portside #5. Not sure what the deal is but give us a minute or two…”
“Roger.”
After a good fifteen minutes. “OK, She’s a go!!”

You check and all systems are green.

“Mr Leeds, if you would please. From ten…”
